Emily Stamey
Curator and Head of Exhibitions @Weatherspoon Art Museum
Emily organizes original and traveling shows for the Weatherspoon. Emily has been with the Weatherspoon for five years. Before arriving in Greensboro, she worked at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Arizona and the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University in Kansas. Emily holds a Ph.D. and an MA in art history from the University of Kansas and a BA from Grinnell College. Her recent projects at the Weatherspoon include Dread & Delight: Fairy Tales in an Anxious World and To the Hoop: Basketball and Contemporary Art. When she's not at the museum, Emily loves reading contemporary fiction, going to yoga classes, and spending time with her family. She's passionate about sparking connections and conversations through the art that she curates and is energized by being a part of the university.
